Too late to buy PSP 2000?

I want to buy either a PSP 2000 or a iPod Touch this christmas. Will it be too late to buy a PSP 2000? I don't want to get a PSP 3000 since it is not hackable yet. If I buy the PSP 2000 now, will there be a new PSP releasing next year or so? I am looking to only buy the PSP 2000 core pack.Too late to buy PSP 2000?

Well if you really want to wait to know if it is possible to do the ''illegal firmware'' then wait, but if you really don't want to wait you might as well get the 2000.
is it possible to trade in a modded PSP 2000 at gamespot? will they check for the firmware?
PSP 2000 also doesn't have that stupid interlacing issue. You should be able to find one, and I don't know if Gamestop will take modded psps, but it's not terribly hard to revert a CFW to OFW.
