Should I Give The PsP Another Chance to ...

Well I have a Fat PsP (orginial) and well the analog joystick broke because of my Father (Happened Over 3 years ago... long story short... Madden + Dad = Fail).I really didn't care much for it but in recent light I find myself wanting a working PsP. Should I give my PsP another chance and attempt to repair it? I figure since it appears like the entire joystick is broken, it might run me circa 15 dollars to fix. I am wondering if the 2009 psp gaming year is worth it?Now if I do get it fixed is this version compatable with the 8 gb memory stick? My Ipod had taken a dive off the deep end into a pit a fire, and wouldn't mind something to hold music on.Last question if I get it repaired should I upgrade and trade it in for the New PsP 3000 Series? What would be the trade in value for fat Psp? How much do you think I can get for it? Once again is it even worth the upgrade?I know its a lot of questions and I am sorry, but I really appreciate any answers/feedback/suggestionsThank you for your time Should I Give The PsP Another Chance to ...
You do not want the PSP-3000. Poor updates, very bad scanlines, not worth your money. Microphone? Buy a Skype headset. The Screen? Glitched and looks fake. Go for the PSP 2000. And if I'm not mistaken, I think traded in Fats go for $60 to $80 dollars...Should I Give The PsP Another Chance to ...
If it only costs $15 and an hour of your time go for it. Killzone, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, and Crisis Core are all worth playing. Just keep in mind that in terms of games the PSP is still basically like a PS2 mini outside of a few games like Loco Roco.
Can the Fat PsP use the 8gb memory stick?

2009 its gonna be a total turn around though. Lots of games specifically for the PSP. Its gonna be awesome.

If you can get away from the hackers which isn't the hardest thing in the world to do (but when there is one, people rather complain than vote them out), then you're just awesome.

I have a 3000 and none of that is true for me. I don't have a 2000 to compare the screen side-by-side, but there are no scanlines whatsoever. Glitched and looks fake? I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean. Anyway, I love mine.

To Theverydeepend, if you can get the joystick fixed for $15, I say go for it. I got a 8GB card for my PSP, but I wish I would have ordered the 16GB now. I'm not sure about compatibility issues with the 1000. Also, while the PSP will play your music library, it is a poor substitution for an iPod. I use mine for movies.

Anyway yes it has very bad scanlines. You people must be blind not to see it. Thats why its so fake, and if it has scanlines when the hardware is bad. Also to use the 16GB you have to have 5.0 Firmware, with the PSP store and all. I have no use for a PSP Store so I've stayed with 4.00 firmware since I use imported games more then anything. Make sure you be careful about the 16GB cards. Do NOT buy it from Ebay. Lots of fakes come from there.
I have no idea why Sony thought they had to ''improve'' the screen in the first place. The 3000's screen comparison to the slim just look kind of sickening.
the psp 3000 is great. No scanlines or dead pixel crap.. very light and just feels good in your hands. Very satisfied.
I agree with darkenmal
