Hey there, my son's new PSP suddenly lost sound via the speakers. Oddly though when the headphones are plugged in the sound still works. I couldn't find any setting that could re-enable the sounds via the built in speakers. Help! what could be the problem??Odd PSP sound problem
I have no idea, it sounds like they are broken sadly :(Odd PSP sound problem
If the head-phones work, that means the sound driver works, just not the speakers. I'm not sure why the speakers would go bad, although some sort of liquid could get to them pretty easily. I'd say your speakers are broken.
I also think that it's the speakers. I strongly recommend to exchange the PSP if it's recently bought or else clean it somehow or take it to a repair shop.
Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking it was defective as we were careful not to get the unit dirty or wet. I don't see how the speakers could have gotten damaged by water or dirt.

you might want to call sony about that
